President Pranab Mukherjee’s southern sojourn will begin on December 15 and end on January 1 next year. He will stay at the President’s only official retreat in south India, the Rashtrapati Nilayam at Bolarum in Secunderabad. This will be Pranab Mukherjee’s second stay at the R P Nilayam.
According to an official communiqué of the Rashtrapathi Bhavan in Delhi, the President would arrive in the city on December 15. Before this trip, he would visit the state on November 4. He will land at the Begumpet airport at 7.35 pm on November 4 and stay at Raj Bhavan. The next day, he will attend the Deekshant Parade, the passing out parade of the 2012-batch Indian Police Officers, at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National
Police Academy. He would leave for Delhi at 12.30 pm.
The General Administration Department (protocol) sources told STOI that the President has agreed to inaugurate the 74th All India Industrial Exhibition (AIEE), popularly known as Numaish, at the exhibition grounds in Nampally.
On December 22, the VVIP would participate in valedictory function of the birth centenary celebrations of the ex-Presi
dent late Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy at Anantapur. He would leave for Pune on December 24 and proceed to Mumbai on December 26. On January 1, he would inaugurate the 74th Numaish at Nampally and return to Delhi on the same day.
“We are thrilled that the President has accepted our invitation to inaugurate the 74th Numaish, but so far we have not received any intimation either from Rashtrapati Bhavan or the GAD authorities,” Exhibition Society secretary Ashwin Margam told TOI.
In fact, Numaish would turn 75 (Diamond Jubilee) in 2015 and the Exhibition Society would chalk out various programmes, he added.
Numaish, the annual consumer exhibition, is held every year between January 1 and February 15.
