Britain pledges $ 200 mn annual economic assistance to Afghanistan until 2017

Britain has pledged 200 million dollar annual economic assistance to Afghanistan until 2017. This was announced by the British Secretary for International Development Justine Greening during her meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai in London yesterday. 

A press release issued by the President's office in Kabul today said the two leaders discussed bilateral relations between Afghanistan and the United Kingdom including cooperation towards development projects in Afghanistan. 

The aid will be used in infrastructure projects including projects related to education, agriculture, electricity, road construction and business development. Earlier, President Karzai also met with the British Queen Elizabeth in the Buckingham Palace and the two sides discussed bilateral, regional and international issues. Afghan President thanked British people for helping Afghanistan during the last decade.
