India Post on 22 October 2013 released a commemorative postage stamp on the Golden Jubilee of Bhakra Dam.
A two-inch stamp marking the 50th anniversary of Bhakra Dam was released in Nangal by Union minister of water resources Harish Rawat. The dam was dedicated to the nation by the then Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru on 22nd October in 1963.
India Post earlier issued a commemorative postage stamp on Bhakra Dam on 15th Dec 1988 on its silver jubilee. Bhakra dam is the first structure in India which will have two commemorative postal stamps in its name.

About Bhakra dam
The Bhakra dam, located at a gorge near the upstream Bhakra village in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, is India’s second tallest at 225.55 m (740 ft) high next to the 261m Tehri Dam. Its reservoir, known as the “Gobind Sagar”, stores up to 9.34 billion cubic metres of water. Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab are getting water for irrigation from the Bhakra Dam.
