Himachal Pradesh became Second State after Haryana to introduce NVQF

Himachal Pradesh on 26 October 2013 became the second state after Haryana to introduce Union National Vocational Qualitative Framework (NVQF) Scheme. The scheme has been implemented by the All India Technical Education Council and the National Skill Development Council. As per the scheme, 70 skill development councils will be established and each council will be given specific trades. The scheme was being implemented for students of Class IX to Class XI and every student has to clear four levels to get the certificate.
The programme is being introduced in one hundred schools and each school will have to adopt two trades out of five - Information Technology, Education, Retail Security, Automobile and Health Care.
Books of different trades will be prepared by experts and circulated to all the schools and laboratory equipment and tool room will be provided for practical work. One hundred more schools will be covered under the scheme which is being funded by the Union government and the state government in the ratio of 75:25.
