Uttarakhand Lokayukta Act, 2011

The President of India Pranab Mukherjee on 17 October 2013 gave his assent to the Uttarakhand Lokayukta Bill. With this Uttarakhand Lokayukta Bill became an Act.

The main objective of the Lokayukta Act was to curb corruption in the Uttarakhand state.

The Chief Minister, ministers, MLAs and government servants, including IAS and IPS officers, will come under the ambit of the Lokayukta. Former chief ministers, former ministers and retired officers will also come under the purview of the Lokayukta. It is important to note that judges of the Uttarakhand High Court will not be covered under the purview of Lokayukta.
