Bhutan’s Prime Minister Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay has invited IT companies from India and Hyderabad in particular to establish facilities in his country, saying they could serve as secure back-up offices for them, he visited hyderabad on 3.9.2013.
Addressing the industry at an interaction organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry at the Godrej Green Business Centre (GBC) here on Tuesday, he recalled that Bhutan had 72 per cent of its land area covered by forests. Where else in the world could one find such green environs, he asked, adding that companies that came forward would find the red carpet laid out for them.
On his first visit to India and Hyderabad after taking over as Prime Minister, Mr. Tobgay, an avid blogger known to leverage the reach of social networking sites, said Bhutan would seek to roll out a modernisation programme with his natural resources as the foundation, with the IT & Communications sector leading the way.
“I have always loved the old Hyderabad, its culture, history, tradition. It has always fascinated me and a hi-tech city now as a blend of the old and the new amazes me. And considering this blend and our wish to transform the natural beauty of Bhutan with modernisation, leveraging the power of IT, we don’t have a better friend than Hyderabad,” he said, to applause.
