The Maldives foreign ministry summoned the Indian high commissioner to Maldives Rajeev Shahare to lodge protest over his meeting with the country's elections commission.
According to a report in the Sun.mv online, an official from the Maldives foreign office met with the Indian envoy at 7pm on Friday.
"We had a meeting with the Indian high commissioner last night, but we cannot reveal details of the meeting," the report quoted the official as saying on Saturday.
