Senior IAS officer Ratan P Watal will take over as Secretary, Department of Expenditure in the Ministry of Finance, after the current Secretary R S Gujral retires later this month.
Watal, a 1978-batch IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, is currently Secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
Meanwhile, he has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Department of Expenditure with immediate effect, an official statement said.
