Centre gives Hyderabad IT Rs 2.19 lakh-cr boost

Andhra Pradesh became the first State to get Centre’s clearance for setting up the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) dedicated to establishment and growth of IT, ITES and Electronic Hardware manufacturing in an area of 50,000 acres with an investment potential of Rs.2.19 lakh crore.

When the Centre announced its policy to set up ITIR regions in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Odisha, the State was the first to send its proposal with allocation of 202 sq.km (50,000 acres) in Cyberabad Development Authority including the existing Information Technology hubs of Gachibowli and Madhapur; Hyderabad Airport Development Authority comprising Shamshabad, Mamidipalli, Raviryal, Adibhatla and Maheswaram; Uppal and Pocharam. The ITIR project for the State is the culmination of two-year efforts and coordination with 17 Central government departments and the Planning Commission.

The project to be developed in two phases, over a period of 25 years can earn direct revenue of Rs.3.11 lakh crore, including IT exports of Rs.2.35 lakh crore, said IT Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah. “The project will open a golden chapter for the State,” he said.
