Frenchman Serge Haroche and American David Wineland have won the 2012 Nobel Prize in physics for inventing and developing methods for observing tiny quantum particles without destroying them on Oct 9th.


Medicine

British, Japanese scientists win Nobel Prize for stem cell research

The work of British researcher John Gurdon and Japanese scientist Shinya Yamanaka awarded noble for stem cells on October 8th.

Americans Lefkowitz, Kobilka win Nobel chemistry prize for work on protein receptors on October 10th.
